Berta Faye Rex, Quail Creek Park.

Quail Creek Park renamed the Berta Faye Rex, Quail Creek Park. The Quail Creek Home Owners Association (HOA) asked Ward 8 Councilman Mark Stonecipher to request the change by the Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department. Berta Faye and her husband John Rex were dedicated, community leaders. For more than 25 years, Berta Faye served the Quail Creek HOA as the leader/organizer of the annual 4th of July Parade, which always ended at Quail Creek Park in south Quail Creek. Stonecipher said during his years as president of the HOA “it was a pleasure and honor to work with Berta Faye as she coordinated volunteers and participants young and old, for the holiday festivities. She was an advocate of Quail Creek Park ... and used the park as the focal point for families and neighbors to come together. The July 4th celebration always included a band and patriotic speaker. The Rexes were dedicated to improving education in Oklahoma City and each served on various community organization boards. Berta Faye was also a founder of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Society. Quail Creek HOA President Brian Ferguson and Park Commission chairman Allen Paine initiated the campaign for the name change.
