HISTORY
Located in northwest Oklahoma City, Quail Creek is one of the state’s largest and most established neighborhoods. Quail Creek began taking shape in 1960 as a large portion of the Browne family farm was sold to make way for a new country club and residential community. In late 1961, Quail Creek Golf & Country Club opened and new homes were popping up all around the area. At the time, the Quail Creek neighborhood (which now sits in the hub of northwest Oklahoma City) was considered an extremely suburban and almost rural location, surrounded in all directions by farmland.
Quail Creek was developed in phases, allowing city streets and utilities to be added in smaller sections. While the neighborhood originally dates to the 1960s, there are also sections that were not fully developed until the 1990s. Each section operates under its own set of restrictive covenants that, along with city/municipal code, guide the allowable actions in Quail Creek.
Quail Creek is proud to be home to diverse home styles, home sizes and residents. As a highly desired, yet established neighborhood, it is common to find homes that offer original fixtures and styling as well as those that have been extensively remodeled. More recently, existing homes are being demolished to make way for new construction.
Amidst the variety of home styles and families that inhabit them, Quail Creek neighbors enjoy being home in a traditional neighborhood of winding streets, large trees and appreciation of community.
Quail Creek stretches from May Avenue to Hefner Parkway (east to west) and Hefner Road to Memorial Road (south to north). This two square mile area is home to Quail Creek Elementary School, one of the crown jewels in the Oklahoma City School District. Also located inside the neighborhood, Quail Creek Park is a popular attraction for children of all ages, dogs, and neighbors out for a jog or evening stroll. Quail Creek is also proud to share the neighborhood with Quail Creek Golf & Country Club, one of the region’s best country clubs. Quail Creek’s location in the heart of northwest Oklahoma City means residents are never far from major retailers, business complexes, hospitals, shopping malls, banks and excellent dining choices.
